About Our Household Garbage Removal Service

Sometimes the trash just gets ahead of you — after a big tidy, a move, a party, or simply months of accumulation that the weekly collection cannot keep up with. We clear out the household garbage and clutter that piles up faster than the curb can take it: bagged trash, broken household items, old toys, small furniture, boxes, and the general mix of stuff that fills a basement or spare room. If you landed here looking for your city's garbage collection schedule, see the City vs. Private Pickup guide below — then call us when the city won't take it, missed you, or you can't wait until next week. We load it all in one trip so you are not making a dozen dump runs or waiting weeks to put a few extra bags out at a time. You point to what goes, and we handle the rest.

How Household Garbage Works in Pickering

  1. Walk through and confirm what is garbage and what stays
  2. Bag loose clutter and gather scattered items room by room
  3. Pull out any recyclables and donatable goods as we load
  4. Carry everything to the truck — no curbside staging needed
  5. Tidy and sweep the cleared areas

Pricing & Service Details for Pickering

  • Starting price: $55 minimum
  • Per cubic yard: $35
  • Typical scheduling: 24-48 hours
  • Same-day service: Available
  • Insurance: WSIB + liability
  • Diversion rate: 60%+ recycled or donated

Household junk is priced by volume, so a few bags and a couple of items is just the minimum, while a full-room declutter is a partial truckload. There is no per-bag fee and no surcharge for stairs — you pay for the space the load fills.

We collect from anywhere in the home — basement, attic, spare rooms — so there is no need to haul anything up to the garage or curb first. Just clear a walking path if you can.

We pull recyclables and donatable goods out of every load so usable items and materials are diverted, and only true garbage goes to disposal.

In Pickering, the Region of Durham collects garbage every other week — up to four bags or cans per household, extra ones need a $3 Region bag tag — and takes up to two furniture or large items on your regular garbage day without a booking. Renovation material, loose waste and anything over the limits stay at the curb; that is where we come in, from $55 and often the same day.

Rules checked against the Region of Durham website on October 20, 2026. Questions for the municipality: 311 (within Durham) or 905-668-7711.

Region of Durham curbside garbage

  • Garbage is collected every other week; it must be at the curb before 7 a.m. on your collection day.
  • Up to four bags or cans per collection. Each extra bag or can needs a Region garbage bag tag ($3 each, sold in sheets of five for $15).
  • Each bag or can must weigh 20 kg (44 lb) or less; bags no larger than 66 cm × 90 cm (26 in × 36 in), cans under 125 litres with two handles.
  • Everything must be bagged and tied, even inside a can — loose garbage is not collected.

Furniture and large items

  • Furniture and large items (couches, mattresses and box springs, dressers, desks, chairs, luggage, sports equipment) go out on your regular biweekly garbage day — no appointment needed.
  • Up to two items per pickup; a separate truck collects them, so they may go later in the day than your bags (collection can run until 7 p.m.).
  • Metal goods, electronics and porcelain need a separate appointment with the Region.

What Pickering won't take at the curb

  • Renovation material: cabinetry, lumber, drywall, doors, carpet or underlay.
  • Anything over the two-item limit, or bags past the four-bag limit without a tag.
  • Loose, untied or overweight garbage, and oversized bags or cans.
  • Household hazardous waste (paint, oil, chemicals) — those go to a Region depot for free.

Frequently Asked Questions — Household Garbage Removal in Pickering

How much does household garbage removal cost in Pickering?

Household Garbage Removal in Pickering starts at our $55 minimum and is priced at $35 per cubic yard, so you only pay for the space your load takes in the truck. Household junk is priced by volume, so a few bags and a couple of items is just the minimum, while a full-room declutter is a partial truckload. There is no per-bag fee and no surcharge for stairs — you pay for the space the load fills.

Which Pickering neighbourhoods do you cover for household garbage removal?

We provide household garbage removal throughout Pickering, including Bay Ridges, Liverpool, Amberlea and Duffin Heights. Most jobs are scheduled within 24-48 hours, and same-day service is available across Pickering.

How is this different from my city's garbage pickup?

Municipal collection limits how many bags and bulky items you can put out and how often. We take it all in one visit, from inside your home, with no bag limits or special-pickup waits.

Where do I find my city's garbage collection schedule?

Durham Region publishes weekly garbage, green bin, blue box, and yard waste schedules by address, and the City of Toronto publishes Scarborough pickup calendars the same way — search your city name plus 'waste collection calendar' and enter your address. If the city won't take it (extra bags over the limit, bulky furniture, renovation junk), missed your street, or you can't wait until next pickup day, that's exactly when to call RJR Demo & Junk at (905) 999-4426: same-day private pickup from $55, we carry it from inside your home, no bag tags or limits.

Do you do recurring pickups?

We can. Some households and small businesses book us on a regular schedule for overflow that the weekly collection cannot handle. Most jobs, though, are one-time clear-outs.
