Household Garbage Removal in Scarborough, Ontario

Scarborough is part of the City of Toronto, not Durham Region, so Toronto's rules apply: garbage goes out in your City Garbage Bin every other week, extra bags need a $6.81 City garbage tag, and furniture, mattresses and appliances are picked up beside your bin on garbage day. Renovation debris and household hazardous waste are never collected at the curb — you drive them to a City Drop-Off Depot, or we haul them away. Full Scarborough collection rules below.

About Our Household Garbage Removal Service

Sometimes the trash just gets ahead of you — after a big tidy, a move, a party, or simply months of accumulation that the weekly collection cannot keep up with. We clear out the household garbage and clutter that piles up faster than the curb can take it: bagged trash, broken household items, old toys, small furniture, boxes, and the general mix of stuff that fills a basement or spare room. If you landed here looking for your city's garbage collection schedule, see the City vs. Private Pickup guide below — then call us when the city won't take it, missed you, or you can't wait until next week. We load it all in one trip so you are not making a dozen dump runs or waiting weeks to put a few extra bags out at a time. You point to what goes, and we handle the rest.

How Household Garbage Works in Scarborough

  1. Walk through and confirm what is garbage and what stays
  2. Bag loose clutter and gather scattered items room by room
  3. Pull out any recyclables and donatable goods as we load
  4. Carry everything to the truck — no curbside staging needed
  5. Tidy and sweep the cleared areas

  • Old toys, games and kids' gear
  • Small furniture and shelving

Pricing & Service Details for Scarborough

  • Starting price: $55 minimum
  • Per cubic yard: $35
  • Typical scheduling: 24-48 hours
  • Same-day service: Available
  • Insurance: WSIB + liability
  • Diversion rate: 60%+ recycled or donated

Household junk is priced by volume, so a few bags and a couple of items is just the minimum, while a full-room declutter is a partial truckload. There is no per-bag fee and no surcharge for stairs — you pay for the space the load fills.

We collect from anywhere in the home — basement, attic, spare rooms — so there is no need to haul anything up to the garage or curb first. Just clear a walking path if you can.

We pull recyclables and donatable goods out of every load so usable items and materials are diverted, and only true garbage goes to disposal.

City of Toronto curbside garbage

  • Garbage and recycling are collected on alternating weeks; the Green Bin is collected every week. Find your day by address or in the TOwaste app.
  • Daytime collection: bins at the curb before 7 a.m. on collection day, and no earlier than 8 p.m. the night before.

Furniture and large items

  • Furniture, mattresses and box springs, appliances, barbecues (no propane tank), bicycles, water heaters and toilets go out beside your Garbage Bin on garbage day — no booking and no tag.
  • Leave 0.5 m between items, take the doors off fridges and ovens, and tie sofa-bed frames shut.
  • Carpet must be rolled and tied in bundles no longer than 4 ft (1.2 m) and no heavier than 20 kg.
  • Mattresses or furniture with bed bugs must be wrapped completely in plastic.
  • Every house pays a $23.23 yearly oversized-item fee, whether it uses the service or not.

What Scarborough won't take at the curb

  • Construction, demolition and renovation waste — baseboards, bathtubs, cabinets, countertops, doors, drywall, fencing, insulation, lumber, plaster, roof shingles, siding and tiles.
  • Household hazardous waste — paint, propane tanks, batteries, cleaners, pesticides and cooking oil (depot drop-off, or City home pickup for 10–50 L/kg).
  • Extra garbage without a tag, and bags over 20 kg.
  • Tires — City Drop-Off Depots don't take them either, until further notice.

Frequently Asked Questions — Household Garbage Removal in Scarborough

How much does household garbage removal cost in Scarborough?

Household Garbage Removal in Scarborough starts at our $55 minimum and is priced at $35 per cubic yard, so you only pay for the space your load takes in the truck. Household junk is priced by volume, so a few bags and a couple of items is just the minimum, while a full-room declutter is a partial truckload. There is no per-bag fee and no surcharge for stairs — you pay for the space the load fills.

Which Scarborough neighbourhoods do you cover for household garbage removal?

We provide household garbage removal throughout Scarborough, including Birch Cliff, Cliffside, Guildwood and Highland Creek. Most jobs are scheduled within 24-48 hours, and same-day service is available across Scarborough.

How is this different from my city's garbage pickup?

Municipal collection limits how many bags and bulky items you can put out and how often. We take it all in one visit, from inside your home, with no bag limits or special-pickup waits.

Where do I find my city's garbage collection schedule?

Durham Region publishes weekly garbage, green bin, blue box, and yard waste schedules by address, and the City of Toronto publishes Scarborough pickup calendars the same way — search your city name plus 'waste collection calendar' and enter your address. If the city won't take it (extra bags over the limit, bulky furniture, renovation junk), missed your street, or you can't wait until next pickup day, that's exactly when to call RJR Demo & Junk at (905) 999-4426: same-day private pickup from $55, we carry it from inside your home, no bag tags or limits.

Do you do recurring pickups?

We can. Some households and small businesses book us on a regular schedule for overflow that the weekly collection cannot handle. Most jobs, though, are one-time clear-outs.
